A new exhibition space at the Pont du Gard
Le Pont du Gard has decided to innovate by transforming its new reception into an exhibition space.
It is designed above all as a friendly and bright space where visitors can take the time to relax and discover the site's offers.
Each quarter, an artist will be invited to present their creations – photographs, paintings, drawings… a diversity of artistic aesthetics and media with the leitmotif of the singular view of one or more artists on the world here or elsewhere. …
To inaugurate this cycle of exhibitions, the Pont du Gard went up the course of the Gardon to the village of Collias where the photographer Eric RIBOT lives. In the exhibition “When water becomes a mirror”, the artist presents elegant creations and an astonishing sense of observation. Through its gaze, the Gardon is transformed in turn into an Aztec landscape, an African mask or becomes an animal...
The exhibitions are freely accessible and open during the hours of the reception area on the left bank.

“When water becomes a mirror” by Eric Ribot (Les Illusions d’âmes)
A discovery on the edge of the Gardon gorges.
A sort of optical illusion. " The pareidolia ".
The water of the banks tirelessly, gently sculpts wonderful imaginary characters, which can only be seen at times when the wind is absent, when the breath stops, the light caresses them and nature basks. .
No rustling of air, then these fantastic characters appear.
I play with axial symmetry without using photomontage or trickery, a real photograph, by rotating the photo a quarter turn.

Born in Nîmes, self-taught, Eric Ribot discovered photography at a very young age.
It’s a revelation! Passion is born and will never leave him.
He created an Art Workshop in Collias near the Gardon river.

He won the Canon de Saint-Tropez Special Grand Prize in 2023.
